Thunderball is one of the biggest lottery games in England and the rest of the United Kingdom. It is organized by the National Lottery, which also runs many other lotto game. Thunderball is held 4 times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at either 8PM or 8:15PM.

The Thunderball Lottery consists of the numbers 1-39, which can be selected up to 5 times at once. There is also the Thunderball number that is picked from the numbers 1-14. With just £1, you can win upto upto £500,000 if you correctly predict the 5 numbers and the Thunderball number.

If you’re risk averse, you can also play just 1 number. It will, however, reduce the amount you can win drastically. Note, the main numbers and the Thunderball numbers are drawn from different set of numbers. This means that a number can appear but in the main numbers and as the Thunderball number.

The first draw of the Thunderball lottery was held in June 1999 with 34 balls. It was held on Saturdays alone for a while until 23 October 2022 when Wednesday was added to the draw schedule. In 2009, a new lottery machine, the Smartplay Halogen II was introduced for the lottery draw. The number of balls increased from 34 to 39 in May 2010 while the Jackpot was also rasied to £500,000 from £250,000. Finally, a price was assigned to accurately predicting the Thunderball only.

You become a Thunderball winner when the number(s) you select matches the winning numbers of the draw. Your chances of winning, however, depends on the odds of your selection.

For instance, if you play to win the £500,000 jackpot i.e. 5 main numbers and the Thunderball, the odds you’re going to win is 1 in 8,060,598. The least risky game is playing just 1 number, which comes with odds of 1 in 13. You can also play 1 number and the Thunderball number at odds of 1 in 35.
